This custom-built guitar stands out with its rare and thoughtfully chosen tonewood combination, paired with a refined and natural aesthetic that emphasizes understated elegance. Its visual appeal is matched by a rich, expressive tonal palette that invites inspiration from the first strum.
At the heart of this instrument’s tonal character is a pairing of back and sides crafted from katalox—a highly dense and exceptionally hard tonewood also referred to as Mexican Royal Ebony—and a top made of torrefied Sitka spruce. The torrefaction process enhances the wood’s resonance and imparts a warm, seasoned tonal character, adding a touch of vintage sweetness and maturity to the guitar’s already articulate and well-balanced voice. The result is a clear midrange, sparkling trebles, and a controlled low end that sings with nuance and depth.
The body is shaped in Taylor’s Grand Auditorium silhouette with a cutaway design, finished in a high-gloss treatment that highlights the wood’s natural beauty. Internally, V-Class bracing architecture enhances sustain and volume while significantly improving intonation across the entire fingerboard. This modern bracing system ensures that notes ring out with clarity and consistency, from the open strings to the highest frets.
The neck, carved from satin-finished mahogany, offers a smooth, comfortable feel, encouraging fluid playability across the fingerboard. Subtle yet luxurious wood accents adorn the instrument, including Hawaiian koa inlays along the fretboard in a signature Split Diamond motif, a koa and ebony rosette, and koa edge trim that adds a sophisticated touch around the body’s perimeter. The peghead is finished with a matching koa logo inlay, maintaining visual harmony throughout.
Additional details include satin black tuning machines with ebony buttons, offering both functionality and visual refinement, and delicate koa inlays that further elevate the instrument’s artisanal craftsmanship.
Equipped with Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup, this guitar is stage- and studio-ready, faithfully capturing its rich acoustic voice. It comes securely housed in a brown deluxe hardshell case, ensuring protection and elegance in transit.
