When a particularly special group of premium Hawaiian Koa becomes available, we work with our Taylor Concierge to hand-select the wood specifically for these builds. And this particular set is spectacular. The figuring, color, depth and three-dimensional character of the Koa are simply outstanding.

We paired that extraordinary wood with our favorite Tropical Vine inlay theme, using Mother of Pearl and Abalone to complement the Hawaiian inspiration of the instrument. The result is an absolutely stunning guitar with the visual presence and craftsmanship of a true heirloom instrument.

This is not your typical All-Koa Taylor.

For this build, we specified Adirondack Performance X-Bracing, a bracing pattern we have used on some of our previous Tobias Music Custom Taylor guitars. Through our experience with these builds, we’ve found that this bracing approach can be the secret sauce for getting a Koa top to really come alive.

The result is a Koa guitar with a deeper, richer and more lush tonal character right out of the box than you might expect from an all-Koa instrument. There is excellent warmth and complexity, but also the responsiveness and headroom we look for in a premium acoustic.

And like any great Koa guitar, we expect this one to become even more impressive as it ages.

It has the visual sophistication of a high-end Custom Taylor, but more importantly, it has the voice to match.

The tonal response is full, deep and unusually mature for a new All-Koa guitar. It has enough warmth for fingerstyle and nuanced playing, while retaining the projection and dynamic range needed for more aggressive playing.
