Very nice find. Vintage Gibson Melody Maker c.1959. This one has some wear and tear but still a gem. Has an assortment of Nick, small dings and scratches. But overall, not bad for 66 years old. Cracked headstock at some point in its lifetime but a very professional re-glue and finish touch up done. You have to look closely to see it. Nice guitar.
The Gibson Melody Maker was first introduced in 1959 and remained in production until 1971. It was designed as an even more affordable option than the Gibson Les Paul Junior, which had debuted as a student model in 1954. From the start, it featured a thin, slab-style mahogany body and a one-piece mahogany set neck. All electronics, including the small "Fender-style" single-coil pickups and cable jack, were mounted on the pickguard and fitted into a routed section on the front of the body. The strings extended from a simplified, straight-sided version of the traditional Gibson headstock to a wraparound bridge/tailpiece unit. Between 1959 and 1961, the Melody Maker featured a single-cutaway slab body design, resembling the early Les Paul Junior but with a thinner profile.
