This one came out great. On our recent trip to the Martin Custom Shop in Nazareth, PA, we hand-selected some gorgeous Wild Grain Indian Rosewood for the back and sides and paired it with a premium High Altitude Swiss Spruce top. We started with the classic HD28 as our base and ended up with a dreadnought that’s truly something special. This wood combination gives it a tone that really stands out. 11 out of 10 tone. It’s that good. Full, lust tone with a layer of warmth and plenty of projection.

Big, bold, and boomy. Dreadnoughts naturally deliver powerful volume, excellent bass response, and strong projection — ideal for strumming and flatpicking.
Top: High Altitude Swiss Spruce - Often sourced from the Alps (similar to European or Italian spruce), this tonewood is prized for:
Clarity & Responsiveness: Very quick attack and high dynamic range.
Balanced Overtones: Clear note separation with a refined, somewhat “bell-like” treble.
Aging Potential: Opens up beautifully over time, becoming more harmonically rich.
