Nice find here. Longtime customer upgraded so he decided to part with this one. 2022 model. Nice shape. A few nicks and dings but nothing major. The guitar is beautiful. Action, frets, set-up are all fine. Plenty of mileage left in this one. Comes with original hardshell case. Pro set-up included.
Overall - Very Good Condition.
A guitar with a sinker redwood top and Indian rosewood back and sides will generally produce a rich, warm, and complex tone, particularly well-suited for fingerstyle, light strumming, and melodic playing. Here’s a breakdown of the expected tonal characteristics:
Sinker Redwood Top -
- Tone: Warm, lush, and responsive — similar to cedar but with more headroom and clarity.
- Dynamics: Sensitive to light touch, with quick response and good sustain.
- Overtones: Rich harmonic content and a smooth, rounded high end.
- Character: Often described as having a “played-in” or “aged” quality due to its origin (salvaged old-growth redwood submerged in rivers for decades or centuries).
Indian Rosewood Back and Sides
- Tone: Deep, rich bass response with clear trebles and strong mids.
- Overtones: Complex and resonant, adding depth and color to the tone.
- Projection: Excellent — helps amplify the lush top-end from the sinker redwood.
Overall Tonal Profile
- Warmth: High — mellow and pleasing for the ears.
- Clarity: Good clarity, but more on the smooth side than bright or cutting.
- Sustain: Long and smooth, due to the combination of tonewoods.
- Best for: Fingerstyle, solo instrumental, light to medium strumming, and expressive melodic work.
Summary
A sinker redwood + Indian rosewood guitar offers:
- Cedar-like warmth with added clarity and headroom,
- A deep, expressive low end and shimmering highs,
- Ideal for players seeking a responsive, nuanced, and tonally rich instrument.
If you’re a dynamic fingerstyle player or someone who values tonal complexity and warmth, this combination is a fantastic choice.
