Each Eastman mandolin is meticulously handcrafted in workshops in Beijing, where a team of skilled luthiers and artisans apply their deep expertise to every instrument. Their dedication ensures that each mandolin meets Eastman’s high standards for quality and performance.
The A-style—or teardrop—mandolins feature a sleek, minimalist design that emphasizes playability and tone without unnecessary ornamentation. Despite their simpler appearance, these instruments deliver the rich sound and resonance typically found in higher-end models. A-style mandolins are celebrated for their bright, clear tone and are especially popular in classical, folk, and Celtic music, making them a versatile choice for players across genres.
Oval-hole mandolins, with their warm, resonant, and almost vocal tonal character, are favored for their natural ambient reverb and depth. The oval sound hole, placed directly beneath the string courses, helps produce a lush, immersive sound. This makes them particularly well-suited for mandolin orchestras and styles like Celtic, Americana, and folk—whether in solo or ensemble settings.
