Our expert custom guitar team recently had the opportunity to travel to the Martin factory, where we worked closely with their master luthiers to hand-select premium tonewoods and curate unique instrument designs specifically for our custom collection.
As one of the few recognized Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealers in the nation, we were granted rare access to some of the most coveted and carefully stored tonewood sets housed within Martin’s legendary wood shop. Among the remarkable selections, we discovered an extraordinary set of perfectly matched, highly figured Big Leaf Flamed Maple. Its visual appeal was striking, but what truly captured our attention was its tonal potential.
In designing this custom guitar, our team chose a minimalist aesthetic approach—allowing the beauty and character of the tonewood itself to take center stage. Drawing from our extensive experience, we opted for a Grand Performance body size, slightly larger than traditional 000/OM body’s, which we’ve found produces a surprisingly deep and resonant tonal profile. The result is a sound that is warm, round, and full—rich with harmonic content and well-balanced across the frequency range.
Maple, known for its articulate and percussive tonal qualities, makes this instrument particularly versatile. Whether you’re in the studio, performing live, or playing in an ensemble, this guitar delivers remarkable clarity and presence.
