The body is crafted from highly figured Hawaiian Koa, a tonewood carefully hand-selected by our Custom Shop Expert team during a recent visit to the Martin factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Over the years, we have commissioned and built similar Martin guitars, and our experience has shown that Hawaiian Koa pairs exceptionally well with smaller-bodied instruments—particularly the 00 12-fret design—offering both tonal depth and visual elegance.
Our longstanding relationship with Martin, spanning more than 46 years as an authorized dealer and premier Custom Shop Expert Dealer, grants us unique privileges. On our visits to the factory, we are invited to explore Martin’s private inventory of premium wood sets. Among countless exceptional choices, this particular set of koa immediately stood out as extraordinary. Given the rarity and striking appearance of this wood, we knew it deserved something special—so we chose the timeless 42-style inlay, a perfect complement to its exotic character.
