Really nice guitar. We rate this one as ‘very good’, only because a previous small top crack that was professionally repaired by the master luthiers at the renowned 3rd Coast Guitar Service in Chicago, IL. And priced accordingly. Repair work does not affect the guitar visually, tonally, or structurally. This one is a gem. Selling for a longtime customer, this is a sweet little guitar.
The Collings 0-41 12-fret custom guitar harkens back to the exquisite craftsmanship of instruments built over a century ago. Timeless and elegant, this visually captivating guitar features premium tonewoods and intricate hand-inlaid Pearl 0-41 style top border and rosette. Its aesthetic appeal is further enhanced by a torch headstock inlay and 42 style snowflake fretboard inlays. The visual stunning Cocobolo back and sides complement the clean and light German Spruce top, offering excellent projection, volume, and midrange punch. The Ebony pyramid bridge and fretboard, full Ivoroid bindings, Style 3 multi-color back strip, and engraved Waverly tuners on the slotted headstock contribute to its vintage charm.
Compared to the 0 14-Fret model, the Collings 0 12-Fret boasts softer contours and a longer body, resulting in a balanced and full tone with slightly more bass and impressive volume. Since its introduction in 1854, the “0” 12-Fret body has maintained its popularity due to its exquisite tone and convenient size. The guitar features a comfortable short 24 7/8″ scale, a custom 1 3/4″ nut width, and 2 3/16″ saddle spacing at the bridge, making it well-suited for both fingerstyle and strumming techniques. Its compact size makes it an ideal travel guitar, while its authoritative tone makes it perfect for performance and recording. The Collings 0-41 is a versatile choice for any guitarist.
