Wow. Very limited availability. Introduced at the 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Taylor’s 514ce steps out in style. Beautifully figured Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides paired with a Western Red Cedar top. This one is visually stunning but this is also one of the best tonewood pairing. Reminiscent of the Koa/Cedar Limiteds that Taylor offered a few years ago, that are regarded as one of the best runs of LTDs.
Blackwood’s tone profile resembles that of Koa or mahogany in its midrange focus. A little dry and clear yet some nice warmth. Also providing an added slash of sparkle and richness found in Rosewood. When paired with cedar top, you can expect a smoooooth mellow tone with some added punch if you need it. Really, this is a great wood combo.
Sure, this one looks beautiful, but it’s all about the tone. Blackwood / Cedar is such a great combination. Cedar’s warm midrange resonance is a favorite of fingerstylists and players with a lighter touch. Paired with Taylor’s patented V Class bracing, this guitar will serve up an even more powerful all around response and blossoming sustain. Blackwood back and sides produce a naturally dry and focused mid range lending a warm, clear punch that strummer can appreciate. This one sounds really, really, good. Perfect for your live performance or recording, this one is a hard to find gem. Oh, and it’s a beauty.
